Aha, this came about in the most random way. I was writing a Big Bang fic about Madam Christmas adopting four year old Roy, and decide that his mum came from an Eastern province of Xing called Qiongya (I used an obscur-ish old name for Hainan Island). My beta enemytosleep then borrowed the idea of Qiongya and decided that in some respects Qiongya is alt-Korea. But you're right too, I sometimes wish that there were a few more canon countries outside Europe in FMA world. You should write that fic!
