LJ is so awesome it isn't even going to make me go through the whole annoying process of making an account. Very good at accommodating my own laziness. I'll muster the energy someday. Sigh.

Anyway! You are most certainly an expert writer of POV, and this is wonderful Roy introspection. Not that you haven't written anything from his POV before, but this setting, smack in the middle of the whole Promised Day mess, is a perfect opportunity to view him from lots of angles, and you covered them all perfectly. I'm normally a Roy/Riza shipper, but the Wrong Turn 'verse - and especially this fic - looks at such an underappreciated side of their relationship, somewhere between friendship and family, no romance needed. Their dialogue was always in character. Applause.

Your take on Hakuro was intriguing. I was curious about his perspective on the situation in No Small Injury and The Phoney War, and while we saw some of it in the last chapter of NSI, there were some unsaid things there that are explained here. Talk about a many-faceted character. :/ I can't wait to see how that particular conflict plays out.

And, blah, when I was typing that, it occurred to me that here we have another example of you "adopting" a bit-part character and turning them into someone truly interesting. *coughREBECCAcough* Not really in a positive way this time, though.

Random other favorite things: Madame Christmas' quiet grieving for "Maria" balanced with her stoicism, the first Roy-Knox exchange ("What do you actually mean by cardiac arrest? Cardiac, heart, arrest, stops. As opposed to all those other kinds of death where the heart just keeps on beating." LOVE.), Marcoh introspection, and pretty much everything Breda says.

Yay for progress on The Phoney War! Enjoying the RoyEd so far and hoping for more Havoc/Rebecca before the end. *nodnodnod*
